MIGUEL ULLA
BIOGRAPHY
Miguel Ulla Berdullas was born in December 2000 in A Coruña (Galicia, Spain). He began his musical journey at the age of seven at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Coruña (CMUS), where he studied percussion, classical singing, and harpsichord under the guidance of Fernando López Pan. During this formative period, he joined the Children’s Choir of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (OSG) as a white voice, frequently appearing as a soloist until his voice started blooming as a male alto. After completing his Professional Degree, he moved to Barcelona to pursue Higher Studies in Early Music Singing at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) with Maestro Lambert Climent. He later relocated to the Spanish capital city to continue his specialisation at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid (RCSMM), studying with Carlos Mena and Lucia Caihuela.
His development as a soloist began at age fifteen in his hometown under the tutelage of baritone Fernando Balboa. Since 2020, he has continued his vocal studies with the renowned countertenor and conductor Gérard Lesne, and from 2022, also with contralto Sonia Prina. Under Prina’s guidance, he has participated in masterclasses across Italy at prestigious institutions, including the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, in Milan.
Throughout his career, Miguel has sought to broaden his artistic perspective through various workshops and masterclasses. He has enriched his command of vocal technique, stage presence, performing arts and repertoire thanks to the insights of relevant professionals such as Filippo Mineccia, Flavio Ferri Benedetti, Xavier Sabata, and Emilio Sagi, among others.
As a soloist, he has performed at such landmark venues as the Auditorio Nacional de España, the Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo del Escorial, Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, and the Basilica of Santa María la Real in Covadonga. His discography with the HR Recordings label is extensive, featuring world-premiere recordings of works by masters such as Leonardo Leo, Gaetano Veneziano, and Diego de las Muelas. Furthermore, he has led productions dedicated to the recovery of traditional Galician heritage and its profound links to the Baroque period.
